Jeanie Bates is a born and raised Oregonian. This has influenced the content, colors, and character of her art in her art, by selecting from nature. She incorporates that into her landscapes and images she paints. While painting from memory, she did her first trees and landscapes in high school art classes. Through the years, she continued taking art classes. In the last ten years she has primarily concentrated on landscapes.
In the early 1990's, she was sculpting the human form in textiles. As her work became more sophisticated, she was in invitational exhibitions and shows, with annual shows in Chicago and New York.
After returning to school in 2002, she had the opportunity to attend a term of school in Florence, Italy, finally receiving a Bachelors in Art from Portland State University in 2005.
Jeanie lives and works in Lake Oswego, Oregon
